Interior design that supports labor productivity

Employee productivity is measured in the ratio between the employee's output and the financial investment that enabled the "product".

Interior design that supports work productivity includes a number of motifs such as lighting that elicits biochemical reactions, a combination of elements from nature - especially when the office is located in an urban environment and sometimes without any windows.

In an office that supports productivity, I recommend combining a number of motifs, all of which will contribute to a high increase in the level of creativity and in general in the employee's Well Being:

• Lighting that changes throughout the day

• Lighting design combined with technology

- it is not enough for the lighting fixtures to illuminate a certain intensity and shade of light, as it is important that the lighting changes throughout the day in accordance with the changes that take place in the outdoor space.

For example, in the morning and at noon the lighting will illuminate intensely and towards the afternoon the lighting will dim.

To create these scenarios I recommend incorporating smart technological systems, which are programmed to synchronize between the artificial lighting in the interior space and the natural light and shadows coming from the outside space.

A design that supports the corporate culture

Even before I design the space, it is important for me to first get to know the organization and its employees.

And in particular how messages are conveyed within the organization, since proper office planning is planning that supports the work processes, the ways in which decisions are made and of course the organizational culture.

For example, if lunch is a major show on the company's agenda, then I will design a kitchen where you can cook meals as you cook at home (alone or by a chef), a central kitchen unites employees who until now were used to ordering their meal from outside, and contributes to a sense of "home" .

The same is true for sports activities, it is possible to design a gym as well as small positions for stretching, today it is also common to incorporate a yoga room - of course as long as it matches the culture of the organization.

Hybrid work environment

The term "hybrid work environment" is increasingly being discussed these days especially when many workers are still working from home some days of the week.

This environment poses many challenges - since the private work spaces, which often included the employee's personal belongings and were "identified" and territory are now used as "hot" work spaces - that is, occasional work stations.

The desire to streamline and exhaust real estate raises many challenges and changes the corporate culture that often relies on the same "corridor talks" to promote business processes. In a hybrid work environment people meet less and there is no personal, "territorial" space, so I will focus on space and creation. A designed corridor area - which aims to encourage random meetings and less formal conversations that contribute to the advancement of work processes - for example, combining attractive lighting, attractive design elements, intimate seating areas (NOOKS) and a pleasant atmosphere.

Customization in a hybrid workspace

Personalization is an important principle in the design of a hybrid space, and it can be applied through a combination of positions that allow personal belongings to be stored temporarily - even if the next day the employee will work from a different position.

The sense of "territory" contributes to belonging, and can be created under existing conditions.

At the same time the variability is not only at the individual level but also at the general level - since the variability in hybrid workspaces can be on a daily basis - and especially if these are large unused spaces, which may one day serve as a large conference room, based on a modular table, and another can Become a classroom or separate work stations, a large lecture hall or a yoga room - this way you can ensure that the real estate potential is realized at all times.

Designing common workspaces

The prevailing attitude in shared work spaces is that the employee not only actually works in the space but is hosted in it.

The turnover of employees between the positions is high anyway, so the design is focused on an envelope that supports the identity of the customers who sat in these spaces and not the work positions.

In shared work spaces, it is important for me to design a space that is pleasant and comfortable to stay in, the emphasis is on representativeness, branding and business positioning that will contribute to a higher sense of identification and loyalty.

In this space there is room for additional functions - such as a bar, rest rooms, sometimes a gym, small rooms for meetings and more.

Biophilic design in work spaces

The biophilic design combines nature with "green" and environmentally friendly architectural patterns.

Designing work environments that conform to the principles of biophilic design supports human health, well-being and space.

When designing a workspace inspired by these design principles I will use materials and textures that look organic - from nature like natural wood, stone - I will encourage the gaze to the space "see far", I will use vegetation as a basic motif for design and combine it with various elements in space, I will design bio-lighting Dynamic that supports the secretion of the hormones serotonin and melatonin according to changes during the day, and will create natural textures for spaces through floor coverings from natural materials or materials that simulate the appearance of nature.
