Saar appointed Shaul Shochat a judge in the Supreme Court for 6 months
The justice minister explained that the move was intended to reduce the harm done to civilians as a result of the lack of composition in the court.

Justice Minister Gideon Saar decided this morning (Thursday) to appoint the Vice President of the Tel Aviv District Court, Justice Shaul Shochat, to the actual tenure of the Supreme Court for a period of six months.
This, with the consent of the President of the Supreme Court, Judge Esther Hayut.
The appointment is made in accordance with the authority of the Minister under section 10 of the Courts Act.
Saar explained that the move was intended to reduce the harm caused to civilians as a result of the missing composition in the Supreme Court.
"I will continue to make efforts to reach the required agreements in the Judicial Selection Committee regarding the permanent appointments in the Supreme Court, which will also reflect the diversity required in the country's Supreme Court."

"My responsibility is, among other things, to allow the Supreme Court to function and reduce the harm caused to citizens as a result of the missing vehicle. I am convinced that Judge Shochat will contribute his rich judicial experience and skills to the work of the Supreme Court."
Last week, Saar announced the postponement of the meeting of the Judicial Appointments Committee, which was scheduled for last Tuesday, at which committee members were supposed to decide on the appointment of the new judges.
This, after no prior agreement was reached between the committee members on the appointments.
