At about 6 pm this (2nd) evening, a train failure occurred at MTR Causeway Bay Station. A train heading for Kennedy Town's platform 2 fell off the track. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Affected by the accident, the service of trains to and from the Hong Kong Island Line was severely blocked, and the service from Wan Chai to Quarry Bay Station was suspended.
Many bus stops in Sheung Wan, Admiralty and North Point were crowded with workers.
The MTR arranged for free shuttle buses to run on the affected road sections.
After the accident, multiple entrances and exits of Causeway Bay Station were closed and MTR staff instructed citizens to leave the station.
The road traffic on Hong Kong Island is very congested. There are waiting crowds at many bus stops in Sheung Wan, Admiralty and North Point, and long queues at the Admiralty tram station.
Citybus and NWFB have also announced that they are strengthening their services in response to railway failures.

The MTR announced that the current Hong Kong Island Line train can go to Quarry Bay Station, and the service from Wan Chai to Quarry Bay Station will be suspended; the service between Kennedy Town and Wan Chai Station will be maintained every 4 minutes; the service between Quarry Bay and Chai Wan Station will be maintained for 4 One bus every minute.
