The request for help posted on Facebook brought a series of amusing suggestions: from "Zvanog" to "Matzpid"

Had Eliezer ben Yehuda been alive among us today, there is no doubt that he would have been provided with his hands in shock by the upheavals that the Holy Language went through that he loved so much and tried to root out.

The body that is still trying to preserve Ben Yehuda's legacy is the Hebrew Language Academy, which does not give up and is still looking for Hebrew terms for all the foreign slang words we adopt.

This time on the target: the word "cringe".

The academy published on the net that it is looking for a Hebrew word for "caring" and is asking surfers to make suggestions. "Warning: The following post may be a bit cringy," the academy's Facebook post read. "Recently many of you have been asking us - how do you say caring in Hebrew? Our short answer: it is difficult to point to one Hebrew word that will replace caring. If we once avoided movies or series because they were scary, boring, embarrassing or horrible, now we need a caring warning .

"What is cringe?" The word cringe in English expresses a mixture of feelings: 'contraction', 'recoil', 'embarrassment', 'shivering', etc. It is very tempting to find one word in Hebrew that expresses the exact same mixture, but it is doubtful if it is applicable. Different languages "Reflect different cultures, and often words are loaded with complex and specific shades of meaning that the speakers of the language have given it. And yet - we are always happy to receive creative suggestions. Write to us in the comments: What do you think could be the Hebrew alternative to Caring?"

Surfers were quick to make suggestions.

"Stressful and scary - scary or even better - scary," suggested a surfer, adding: "Maybe the bread is stressful and disgusting. The top is already busy. Maybe disgusting?".

Another creative surfer wrote: "Flute, cry, seep, shrink."

Musician Guy Mazig suggested: "horror", while another humorous surfer suggested "out of curiosity".

Other creative suggestions included leaves such as "At the time", "Wool", "Shrink" = shrink + creepy, "Patlov" and "Panic".

One of the surfers said that he once said to someone, "Walla bro, you scolded me for the shape," adding that "he realized I meant Caring without even explaining it to him. We laughed about it."
