London-Sana

The British Guardian newspaper revealed that the Saudi regime has exercised a policy of pressure and threat in order to ensure the halt of a United Nations investigation into human rights violations in Yemen.

The newspaper stated that the Saudi regime used “incentives and threats” as part of its pressure campaign to stop a United Nations investigation, as the investigation deals with human rights violations committed during the Saudi aggression on Yemen, through which it was able to pressure and influence a number of countries.

The newspaper pointed out that the Saudi regime warned Indonesia that it would create obstacles for Indonesians to travel to Mecca if Indonesia did not vote against the resolution, and the African country of Togo promised to receive financial support to support stopping the investigation, which was conducted on the seventh of last October.

The policy of threats and incentives resulted in the vote of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the seventh of last October against the extension of the independent investigation into war crimes in Saudi Arabia.

The war of the coalition led by the Saudi regime against Yemen has continued since 2015, as air raids and targeting of Yemeni cities and villages led to many massacres, with hundreds of thousands of people displaced from their places of residence.

The coalition continues its war against the Yemenis with a suffocating blockade by land, sea and air, preventing the arrival of humanitarian aid and basic needs, including oil derivatives, medicines and medical supplies.
