The son of the Minister of Defense of El Salvador died this Thursday in a plane accident, according to the press office of the Presidency.
According to information provided by the Armed Forces, the frigate Lieutenant Gerardo Antonio Merino Marroquín, son of Merino Monroy, was traveling on an aircraft that crashed while carrying out a mission in the coastal area of the country.
President Nayib Bukele reacted to the event.
"God give guidance and strength Minister Merino Monroy," he wrote on Twitter.
Two other people were also on the aircraft.
It is unknown if they survived the accident.
Earlier, the Armed Forces had indicated that they were looking for the crew.
