And the uncertainty is widely felt, also in the Dachau district.

At the beginning, Baumgartner-Schneider briefly described the situation. "As in Bavaria, the fourth wave hit our district with great dynamism," she said. According to Baumgartner-Schneider, the incidence was still around 100 in October and over 500 a month later. In the past few days, however, the infection rate has stabilized. The health department is currently paying particular attention to the new Omikron variant. “We have travelers returning from Cape Town,” she said. These would have to be quarantined for two weeks, regardless of whether they were vaccinated or recovered.

Supply doctor Christian Günzel clarified the situation in the hospitals.

“The situation is most dramatic in the clinics,” he said.

“The clinic in Dachau is full.” There are currently ten corona patients in the intensive care unit - eight of them are ventilated.

Most are not vaccinated.

The vaccinated are mostly older patients with previous illnesses.

According to Paul Polyfka, there is uncertainty among the citizens.

This shows up when people call the ambulance too late because they are afraid that they will not get the right care in the hospital.

In order to be able to vaccinate the people in the district, the BRK is currently on the road with two and soon three mobile vaccination teams.

■ Corona situation:

Monika Baumgartner-Schneider was asked whether the wave had already broken, since the incidence is currently stagnating.

"We currently have 100 students who tested positive," she said.

This would currently affect 90 classes at 30 elementary and secondary schools.

Vaccination

According to Löwl, vaccination without an appointment is currently hardly possible. But he says that anyone who gets in touch will get an appointment within 48 hours. On the subject of child vaccination, which is sometimes viewed very critically, Günzel said that the vaccine is special for five to eleven year olds. "The active ingredient lasts longer and has a different dosage," he said. The first vaccine should come before Christmas.

■ Testing:

The BRK initially shut down the

The reason for this was the administrative challenges and increasingly “insolent people” who, according to Paul Polyfka, saw the employees as an extension of the state.
