The United Nations announced that it needs at least $ 41 billion in 2022 to help 183 million people around the world with the continuing outbreak of the Corona epidemic, conflicts and the repercussions of climate change.
According to Agence France-Presse, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimated that 274 million people worldwide will need emergency assistance next year, which represents an increase of 17 percent compared to 2021, which set records.
This means that one out of 29 people will need assistance in 2022, an increase of 250 percent since 2015, when one in 95 needed assistance, according to the United Nations office in its annual report, which gives an overview of the humanitarian situation.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator Martin Griffiths told reporters that the number of people in need had "never reached such a high level", noting that providing assistance to so many people was not sustainable but should continue.
The annual report of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs presented a bleak picture of the growing needs caused by conflict and exacerbated instability in places such as Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Burma.
