Suncity Group (1383) resumed trading this morning and opened at RMB 0.14, up 6.06%.
The group stated that the board of directors has noticed certain news reports that the VIP room business operated by Suncity Gaming in Macau has ceased operations completely from today.
The board of directors clarified that the group does not operate any VIP room business in Macau. The business is operated by Suncity Gaming Intermediary and is wholly owned by the controlling shareholder Zhou Zhuohua.
Since the VIP room business is not operated by the group, the company cannot comment on the above-mentioned VIP room business.
The group added that as Suncity Gaming will not be able to provide hotel accommodation products to the group in the short term, and considering the rapid spread of the Omicron variant virus, the group has currently suspended the operation of its travel-related business segment.
At the same time, the board of directors announced that it has received a letter from Zhou Zhuohua regarding his resignation as chairman of the board of directors and executive director, effective today, because his resignation will be in line with the company’s best in view of the pending legal proceedings against Zhou Zhuohua. At the same time, it allows them to devote more time to private affairs.
In addition, Kaisheng Holdings (0102), a subsidiary of Suncity Group, also announced that Zhou Zhuohua has resigned as chairman of the board of directors and non-executive directors, with immediate effect.
The stock opened flat at RMB 0.162.
