More than a thousand demonstrators protested yesterday (Thursday) against police violence against the Bedouin in the Negev.

Demonstrators blocked axes and waved placards reading "Violent police create a violent society", "Incitement and racism is a crime and violence" and "Police violence is not a solution".

Raed Abu Alqian, a social activist who came to the demonstration, explained: "We are protesting in light of what happened in the village of Abu Sabila, where the police parachuted fighters from a helicopter. We are crying out for crime treatment and eradication of violence. "And wants to live with dignity and peace and security like everyone else in the country. Problems are solved through dialogue, not by helicopters and force."

Talal Alkrinawi, who also attended the demonstration, said: "We went out to demonstrate today because we cannot put up with all the incitement against the Arab Bedouin in the Negev. This incitement causes the law enforcement cave to act without any discretion. ".

Arab Knesset members from the opposition and the coalition attended the demonstration.

MK Ahmad Tibi said that despite the party disagreements, in relation to the residents of the Negev, the Arab MKs stand united in their support.

"Recently, the Abu Tbili family was attacked twice," Tibi said. "In distress and demanding to be equal for everyone. Demanding infrastructure."

"Can't put up with incitement."

Tibi emphasized that he and the other demonstrators support law and order and the fight against crime in the Galilee, the Triangle and the Negev.

"The murder rate in the Negev is the smallest of the three areas," Tibi said.

"But under this headline of fighting crime it is impossible to scare families and children like that. I have seen wounded, I have seen pictures of a little girl after the forces were landed by the helicopters. It is horrible and horrible."

According to Tibi, the attitude must be changed, infrastructure must be invested in and the Arab residents of the Negev must be helped.

"We need to see the big gap between Jews and Arabs in the Negev. That is why these residents are protesting, they are coming to shout against police violence and especially to demand equal investment, the right to build and the right to equal life."
