Up to 4 years in prison were required Friday, December 3 at the Criminal Court of Bordeaux in the trial of a juicy breakage of grands crus for a value of one million euros, part of which had been sold by a wine merchant Chinese in Hong Kong.

The case illustrates a "

criminal phenomenon

" which shook the place of Bordeaux: "

between November 2019 and January 2020, no less than 20 burglaries affected wine businesses

", underlined the public prosecutor Céline Pagès. The prosecutor requested four years in prison with continued detention or placement under a committal warrant for five defendants "

particularly responsible

" for the theft of 1,520 bottles for an amount of one million euros, in September 2020, in the warehouse of 'an important merchant at the gates of Bordeaux.

The same sentence was required against Vanessa B., 33, who appeared in detention since Thursday for having served as an intermediary with a Chinese wine merchant based in Gironde Yan.

Z for the sale of 190,000 euros of wines.

The prosecutor requested against him 12 months in prison with a simple suspended sentence, a 30,000 euros fine and a ban from running a company for five years.

Other sentences of one year with an arrest warrant and two years' imprisonment, including six months suspended, were required against three other suspected thieves.

The prosecutor underlined "

the audacity of the protagonists

", a group of thirties and forties known for theft or drug trafficking, "
