The North Rhine-Westphalian CDU politician Ina Scharrenbach (CDU) criticizes the traffic light parties for their dealings with the Federal Ministry for Homeland.
In the running text of the coalition agreement between the SPD, FDP and the Greens, the word “home” is not even mentioned, Scharrenbach told SPIEGEL.
She has been home minister in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2017, and there has also been a corresponding department at the federal level for four years.
Home minister was previously Horst Seehofer (CSU).
"Home is more than just a word on the doorbell of a ministry," says Scharrenbach.
The fact that there was no mention of the ministry in the coalition agreement shows "what little importance" the issue has for the traffic light parties in Berlin.
"As a fig leaf for a ministry designation, the topic is far too important for the cohesion of our society."
In North Rhine-Westphalia, more than 2,700 Heimat projects have been funded through your ministry since 2017, says Scharrenbach.
According to the coalition agreement of the traffic light parties, the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs is entitled to the SPD.
