(ANSA) - ROME, 03 DEC - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, today met the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad al Malki, on the sidelines of the seventh edition of the Rome Med Dialogues.
Di Maio, the Farnesina underlines in a note, reaffirmed the Italian commitment to a just, sustainable and negotiated two-state solution between the parties, as a key to the stability and prosperity of the enlarged Mediterranean.
In reiterating the traditional support for the Palestinian Authority, the head of the Farnesina noted how the start of the electoral process, with the convening of administrative elections, can strengthen its authority and legitimacy, in view of the hoped-for relaunch of the diplomatic initiative for a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict , which Italy confidently supports.
Di Maio then highlighted how Italian-Palestinian relations are based on a deep-rooted bond of friendship between peoples and on solid cooperation in numerous sectors.
Italy has long been committed to strengthening Palestinian institutions, as evidenced by the MIADIT mission and the traditional commitment in the field of cooperation, particularly in the health, education and entrepreneurship sectors.
