The World Health Organization announced that it had not received any information about possible deaths from infection with the mutated strain of the Corona virus (Omicron), with an increasing number of countries recording local infections.
"I have not seen any information indicating deaths related to Omicron," WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier said during a regular press conference in Geneva today, adding: With more countries resorting to testing to detect the new mutant, we will have more infections. And more information though I hope there are no deaths.
For its part, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control in Stockholm estimated that Omicron could cause more than half of the infections caused by the Corona virus in the European Union within the next few months.
The World Health Organization classified Omicron, which was first detected on the brown continent, as “alarming”, and it is the fifth version of Corona placed in this classification.
