The city of Mhardeh in Hama countryside witnessed this evening celebrations of erecting and lighting the Christmas tree in the Church of Joseph St.
In statements to SANA, Metropolitan Nicolas Baalbaki, Metropolitan of Hama and its dependencies, indicated to the Greek Orthodox that the tree that was erected and lit in the city of Mhardeh symbolizes the renewal of life, hope and joy, expressing his hope that peace and security will prevail throughout Syria.
Archbishop Musa Hazeem, one of the sons of Maharda, who attended the lighting of the tree from Kuwait, confirmed that the city today lives in an atmosphere of joy, love and joy in which the people of the country from various governorates and Syrian regions participated, and with the lighting of the tree, the light of guidance, peace and goodness shines in the Mahrada region in particular and Syria in general.
For his part, the mayor of the city of Mhardeh, Simon Saba, pointed to the lofty values and meanings that the occasion of lighting the tree in tolerance and brotherhood and spreading love and peace as a tradition that Mhardeh has been organizing at this time of the year.
Nada Sawah, a resident of Mahardah, stressed the importance of this day and what it symbolizes of joy and happiness at the birth of Jesus, peace be upon him, who spread love and peace in this land, adding that Christmas is the emergence of the spirit of renewal in our souls as human beings, to love each other and support one another, and our country remains an oasis of love and peace.
And Johnny Al-Sadir, head of the city council, stated that the Christmas tree contained various types and shapes of decorations, from luminous balls of various colors, dolls, angelic shapes, and electric lamps of several colors and sizes.
The lighting of the tree was attended by the Governor of Hama, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Krishati, and the Secretary of the Hama Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Engineer Ashraf Bashouri, and religious, party, administrative and civil activities.
