The biographical film "Anita Mui" was officially released last month. Mei Qiming, the brother of Anita Mui, said in an interview earlier that after watching the movie, he thought that the description of Mei's family was too short, and he ignored why there was no such thing as Mei's mother.
Mei Qiming filed a lawsuit in the High Court yesterday (2nd) against Anle Film Co., Ltd., which produced the film, through civil means.
Mei Qiming claimed to hold Mui Yanfang's trademark, and "Anita Mui" used the trademark without his consent, so he filed a claim with Anle Film for compensation, but did not specify the amount of the claim.
The plaintiff is Mei Qiming, and the defendant is Anle Film Co., Ltd.
In the petition written by Mei Qiming himself, he claimed that he holds the trademarks of "Anita Mui" and "Anita Mui".
The filing continued that Anle Films used these trademarks without Mei Qiming's consent in the production of "Anita Mui", the content of the film, promotional materials and printed materials.
Mei Qiming pointed out that as Anita Mui's brother, he also held a trademark, which caused the public to mislead and misunderstand that the film is closely related to him, causing losses.
Mei Qiming asked the court to issue an injunction to prohibit Anle Films from continuing to infringe the trademark and continue to act in the name of Mei Yanfang's trademark.
He also requested Anle Film to surrender all trademark-infringing items to Mei Qiming and make compensation for damages.
