Unusual friends celebrate Thanksgiving 1:01
(CNN) -
A text message about Thanksgiving dinner mistakenly sent to the wrong number six years ago resulted in a lasting friendship.
Now inspire a movie.
Netflix is developing a film based on the chance encounter, which went viral on social media, by Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton. The two Arizona residents met in 2016 when Dench accidentally texted Hinton, rather than his grandson, to invite him to Thanksgiving dinner. The two quickly realized the confusion, but the dinner invitation was kept and Hinton accepted. They have celebrated the holidays together every year since.
"We are excited to share our story with the world," Dench and Hinton said in a joint statement provided by Netflix.
"We hope it inspires more people to reach out and make connections that they normally wouldn't. We are so blessed to find a genuine friendship united by God from the wrong text message."
Hinton also shared the news on Instagram, writing: "We thank each of you for your love and support on our journey over the past 6 years. We can't wait to tell our story on the big screen!"
