The Peter the Great Academy of the Russian Ministry of Defense has registered a new patent on a method for protecting spacecraft from space debris.

And TASS reported that the new method depends on the protection of spacecraft on a device that will provide a kinetic effect on space debris by using special projectiles launched towards it from an electromagnetic accelerator that will be launched into Earth's orbits.

The agency pointed out that the aforementioned device will operate independently and in certain orbits in space, enabling it to deal with space debris objects that may pose a threat to spacecraft or satellites, by launching plastic and viscous projectiles towards space debris objects and the docking of these projectiles with objects in a way that helps To change its trajectory in space and reduce the possibility of it disintegrating into fragments that may pose a danger to spacecraft.

It should be noted that the Russian Foundation (Ross Cosmos) had previously registered a patent for a unique method for cleaning the Earth's orbits of space waste. This method relies on a conical mesh bag that moves in space and is connected to special vehicles or satellites.
