Russia's delegate to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Alexander Shulgin, condemned the United States and its allies' continuation of stirring anti-Russian and anti-Syria hysteria in the organization, stressing that other countries are tired of these politicized statements about the work of the organization.
"The twenty-sixth session of the organization showed the depth of division in it, as the United States and its Euro-Atlantic allies continue to stir up anti-Russian and Syrian hysteria, while many OIC countries are fed up with these discussions raised by Washington and its allies," Shulgin was quoted by the Russian RIA Novosti news agency as saying.
Shulgin pointed out that more voices expressed the need to stop the politicization of work in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and return its work to a normal, non-politicized channel, noting that these practices reaffirm that the United States intends to continue its path of turning the organization into a tool to serve its geopolitical interests.
At the conclusion of his statements, Shulgin stressed that his country would continue to make every effort to restore the rule of international law, preserve the integrity of the Convention on the Non-Proliferation of Chemical Weapons, and normalize the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
Russia has repeatedly criticized the Western countries' continuation of politicizing the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and using its authority to impose its vision and interests, noting that the organization's fabricated and politicized reports regarding Syria are the best proof of that.
