Today, Tunisia recorded the first infection with the “Omicron” mutant, for a young man coming from an African country.
The director of the Tunisian Pasteur Institute of Health Hashemi Al-Wazir said in a statement carried by the TAP news agency, "It was confirmed that the first case of infection with the (Omicron) mutant had been recorded after the release of the result of genetic cutting carried out by the Institute for a sample infected with the Corona virus belonging to a traveler from Central African citizens who arrived in Tunisia via A plane coming from Istanbul, Turkey.
The Tunisian Minister of Health, Ali Merabet, had announced, in a television statement, that a 32-year-old man from the Democratic Republic of the Congo had been tested, coming through Istanbul airport, pointing out that the genetic cutting proved that he was a carrier of an omicron.
Al-Murabet confirmed that the tests were conducted for everyone who accompanied him and those who had contact with him on the plane, and they were negative.
It is noteworthy that the mutant Omicron was first detected in South Africa, and the World Health Organization classified it as worrisome.
