"Spain will be the first EU country to receive a payment of 10 billion"
(net of pre-financing) from Recovery, "once the Member States have authorized it".
This was announced by the
president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen
, explaining that "Spain has made
sufficient progress in the implementation of its national recovery plan"
.
Brussels adopted a positive preliminary assessment of Madrid's payment request.
This is the first preliminary assessment of a state payment request and marks an important milestone in the implementation of the instrument.
"The European Commission sends a
signal of confidence in the implementation of Spain's ambitious plan
to move its economy towards stronger, more inclusive and more sustainable growth".
This was stated by the
European Commissioner for Economy, Paolo Gentiloni
, commenting on the first approval of a payment request from the Recovery fund in favor of Madrid.
