Both victims were slightly injured, but the attack could have been more serious.
Two supermarket employees were the victim of an acid attack this Friday in the Yvelines.
The events took place at the Intermarché in Buc, near Versailles.
The police arrested their assailant, a 25-year-old man, for willful violence with weapons.
He used hydrochloric acid, a very powerful cleaning product to be handled with care because, being very toxic and very corrosive, it can cause burns and irritation.
The reasons for the tragedy were unclear this Friday evening but during his hearing by investigators, the individual would have explained to have acted following a neighborhood conflict.
A common type of attack in England
The two victims suffered minor injuries, particularly to the eyes and mouth.
They were taken care of by the firefighters, who took one of them to the André-Mignot hospital center, in Chesnay-Rocquencourt, for additional examinations.
Frequent in London (England), acid attacks remain relatively rare in France.
However, there have been a number of them in Paris in recent years.
A young man was seriously injured after an attack of this type in the Paris metro in early 2019. A month later, acid was thrown in a schoolyard in Bezons (Val-d'Oise).
More recently, last November, four teenagers were arrested in Argenteuil (Val-d'Oise) in possession of bottles of hydrochloric acid and aluminum balls, enough to constitute explosive cocktails.
