India recorded the third case of the omicron mutant, while the total number of coronavirus cases in the country approached the threshold of 35 million.
Reuters quoted officials in the western Indian state of Gujarat as saying that "the person infected with the new strain of the Corona virus is a 72-year-old man of Indian origin who has lived in Zimbabwe for decades and returned to India on November 28."
India recorded 8,603 new cases of corona during the past 24 hours, bringing the total close to the threshold of 35 million infections, and it recorded 415 new deaths, bringing the total to 470,530.
