"Amor vom Starnberger Land" is an extremely beautiful specimen of a dwarf wire-haired dachshund.

"Amor" himself sees it that way, and the VDH judges also think "Amor" is beautiful - so beautiful that they have chosen him as the "German Champion".

But the male from Huglfing also has completely different skills.

The beauty king is not only beautiful, but also an excellent and trained hunting dog. The four-and-a-half-year-old male with the watchful eyes loves to track down tracks or to herd wild boars. "He is in his element there," says dog owner Eva-Maria Metz. "He's more likely to endure the beauty contests, he does it with confidence, but rather for our sake," says Metz, while "Amor" takes a seat under the table, not without getting a few pats beforehand.

That a dog shines both as a hunting dog and as a beauty king is something very special.

“Usually there is only either or,” said Metz about her “Amor”, who made an extremely relaxed and satisfied impression during the 90-minute conversation.

The dachshund from Andechs breeding is the third generation of the Metz family.

"All of them are cozy and good-natured family dogs," says Eva-Maria Metz about "Amor" and his predecessors.

At the exhibitions, on the other hand, the appearance was assessed, for example the animal's gait, teeth and anatomy - “Amor” performed with flying colors everywhere. The couple Eva-Maria and Wilfried Metz and their “Amor” worked hard to earn the title of “German Champion”, in other words the most beautiful dwarf wire-haired dachshund in Germany: For the couple, this involved long journeys. "Amor" with the typical dachshund look and already as a puppy state winner only had to assert himself with six so-called entitlements against multi-legged competition and have received an "excellent" six times before he recently won the title of the VDH (Association for the German Dog Industry) Gelsenkirchen was awarded.

The good looks, but also the hunting instinct are “Amor” in the cradle.

Parents and grandparents also received awards and were trained hunting dogs.

The Metz couple noticed “Amor's” hunting instinct very early on and let him do appropriate training up to the master's degree.

Even the half-year-old dachshund was a "jewel" for the examiners.

The owner Metz, although not in possession of a hunting license, encourages her bloodhound: after consultation with the hunting tenant, she can, for example, lay out tracks with wild sweat in the forest, which “Amor” can track down.

The well-behaved male, meanwhile a sought-after male stud and a 26-time father, is devoid of airs: he still loves to visit Britta von Boguslawski's dachshund club in Eberfing and meet fellow dogs there - just as he already does as a puppy did.
