(ANSA) - ROME, 04 DEC - "We have more participation in the missions, in a new way of responding to the needs of States that are very specific": said Emanuela Del Re, special representative of the European Union for the Sahel, who spoke at a meeting on cooperation and prospects for stabilization of the region organized as part of the Rome Med Dialogues Conference, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ISPI, with ANSA media partner and at its latest update. "We have the EU, and the fact that many nations have decided to participate in the missions is good news and speaks of a new awareness. Unity is important in the university which is a wealth, not a problem," he added.
Speaking of the security of the area, where large portions of the territory are under the control of armed groups, Del Re added that the situation "is not comparable" to that of Afghanistan.
Furthermore, according to the EU special representative for the Sahel, the fact that France is redeploying and reorganizing its forces in the field in the region, consisting mainly of its former colonies, testifies to a new perspective.
