A forum for plastic art at the Palace of Culture in Sweida

The activities of the Saeed Hamza Forum for Fine Art in its third session, under the title “Culture, Authenticity and Renewal,” began today, with the participation of 5 artists from different generations.

The forum, which is organized annually by the Suwayda Culture Directorate, in appreciation of the career of the late artist Saeed Hamza, in which the participating artists present a group of works using different methods, techniques and schools during the three days of the forum, reflecting their artistic experiences and their development to be presented at its conclusion.

As-Suwayda Culture Director Basil Al-Hinnawi pointed out, in a statement to SANA reporter, that the forum aims to support and encourage artistic movement in the governorate, show artists’ experiences and visions, raise the level of artistic taste and spread the culture and aesthetics of visual art.

Head of the Exhibitions Department at the Directorate of Culture and supervisor of the forum, artist Rabih Ballan, indicated that the forum brings together artists from the old generation, including Issam Al-Shater and Jumana Shuja, in addition to new graduates who have a distinguished experience, namely Ihab Zain Al-Din, Dahabia Al-Khatib and Jawaher Al-Hamad, where each of them presents one work in size 100/70. With themes, styles and techniques chosen by the artists.

Plastic artist Issam Al-Shater, participating in the forum, pointed out the importance of the forums in creating a state of communication between artists, introducing their experiences, exchanging experiences, and providing new artistic visions that support the artistic movement.

The artist Jumana Shuja pointed out that the forum represents an opportunity for her to interact with the artistic movement among her colleagues and return to art and work after being away for some time, trying to reflect, in acrylic and oil, with dialogic pastels and blue color, an emotional state of serenity.

During her visit to the forum, which bears the name of her teacher, the artist Saeed Hamza, who encouraged her since her beginnings in art, plastic artist Hoda Debisi saw that it carries high artistic values ​​and produces important works.

The forum will conclude next Tuesday with an exhibition that includes the works completed during it.
