Damascus-SANA

Talking about science fiction literature is the content of the newly released book by Dr. Ahmed Ali Mohamed entitled “Studies in Scientific Literature,” as part of an effort to shed light on a vital literary topic that has long been ignored by criticism.

The importance of the book, issued as part of a series of studies by the Arab Writers Union, comes in its search for a literary product that occupies today a large part of cultural and literary life and captures the interest of film production companies around the world, based on the fact that science fiction literature is based on insight into scientific facts, the discovery of new worlds, and an attempt to find solutions to problems Cognitive, environmental and social, not a fantasy, as some believe.

The book presents the names of Arab figures in this literature, starting with Ibn Tufail and his book Hayy bin Yaqzan, to show the leadership of Arabs in scientific literature, to contemporary names such as Talib Imran, Muhammad Al-Ashry and Ahmed Khaled Tawfiq, and the addition they made to this field in order to present a new and different Arab product.

The author explains that science fiction literature combined scientific theories and myth, as it was influenced by the traditional novel, and proceeded from it to creativity to show new novel paths of political science fiction, black reality literature or corrupt city dystopia literature that is based on a corrupt, frightening or unwanted imaginary society.

The author asserts that science fiction literature relies on accurate scientific references because it seeks to create a new, advanced culture in the modern era, and this has created a race with scientific theories and created specialized writers who have provided much for the development of humanity, such as Jules Verne and H.G. Wells.

The book published in 195 pages of large pieces reveals that science fiction literature adds other advantages and matches scientific theories and proactive visions in explaining phenomena and addressing young people in a scientific language that establishes the principles of scientific thinking.

The author is a doctor of Arabic literature. Among his publications is a critical study “The Impact of Mental Influence on the Abbasid Poem” and in the poetic “Textual Studies in Modern Literature” and “The Transcendental Axis in Al-Mutanabbi’s Poetry” and other works in literature and criticism.
