During protests against Corona measures in Brussels, there have been violent clashes between demonstrators and the police.
According to the police, around 8,000 people took part in the protests in the Belgian capital.
Fireworks and objects were thrown from one group at police officers, who used tear gas and water cannons.
In the afternoon, the forces called on Twitter to break up the demonstration and announced the arrest of the troublemakers.
The demonstrators held slogans such as "Stop Vax" (for example: stop vaccinations) and "Vrijheid" (freedom) in the air on posters.
A large banner showed a yellow star with the words "Sans Vaccin" (roughly: Unvaccinated).
Such a yellow star was imposed on Jews by the National Socialists as a designation.
In Belgium, corona rules have been tightened again for a few days, including the requirement to wear a mask to all children aged six and over and indoor events limited.
The anger of the demonstrators was also directed against the fact that unvaccinated people have not been allowed to go to restaurants and bars for some time.
Two weeks ago, protests against the corona rules had already led to violent riots, the police were surprised by the size of the demonstration with at least 35,000 participants.
Violent demonstrators set wooden pallets on fire and attacked police vehicles.
On Sunday the police were on duty with a significantly larger number.
Special forces equipped with protective shields and helmets were stationed at key points in Brussels.
Helicopters and drones circled over the city.
