The family of the Ghassanid Orthodox Schools in Homs inaugurated today the second book fair, which includes more than 1,500 titles in various arts of literature and thought, in the archaeological hall of the Cathedral of the Forty Martyrs in Old Homs.
The exhibition, which is held in cooperation with Dar Rabie and the Zenobia Cultural Foundation, includes books and novels in Arabic and English suitable for all ages and educational tools for early childhood.
Murhaf Shahla, director of the Ghassanian Orthodox Schools in Homs, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the aim of the exhibition is to promote reading, spread culture and return the value of the paper book, noting the diversity of the exhibits to include various literary, intellectual and scientific genres.
Sawsan Khabbaz, deputy director of the Zenobia Cultural Foundation, pointed to the attractive discounts for acquiring the book during the days of the exhibition, given the multiplicity of participating Syrian publishing houses and the fact that it contains books specializing in children and people with disabilities.
For his part, Archbishop Georges Abu Zakhem, Metropolitan of Homs and its dependencies, praised the Greek Orthodox about the importance of these exhibitions in encouraging reading for generations to gain knowledge and knowledge, especially children.
While the poet Burhan Al-Shaleel recited a poem titled Book Fair, which he directed to children and students to instill the values of goodness, science and beauty through reading, and another poem entitled “The Book” in which he praised the value of the book as a precious treasure.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Director of Homs Education, Walid Marei, and those interested.
