After the approval of SPD members the day before in congress, 92.2% of around 660 FDP members gave the alliance the green light on Sunday.

The Bundestag is then due to elect the Social Democrat Olaf Scholz as chancellor on Wednesday December 8, bringing Angela Merkel's 16 years in power to an end.
Encouraging FDP members to support the coalition, party leader Christian Lindner said the new government deal was a "
