The cultivated areas of irrigated wheat since the beginning of the planting season have reached 890 hectares out of the total planned area of about 10 thousand hectares, and rain-fed wheat 1415 hectares out of the planned area of 24 thousand hectares.
Engineer Younis Hamdan, director of Homs Agriculture, confirmed in a statement to SANA that the area planted with rainfed barley amounted to 9,173 hectares and 287 hectares of irrigated barley out of a total area of about 38,000 hectares, while the area planted with irrigated beans reached 59 hectares and peas 55 hectares.
Hamdan attributed the decrease in the cultivated area for this period of the season compared to previous seasons to the lack of rain, which delayed the cultivation operations in various regions.
