Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko described the accusations against his country of not implementing the Minsk agreements as "ridiculous."
"The accusations against us about Russia's failure to fulfill any obligations arising from the Minsk agreements are simply absurd, and the reason is that there are no such obligations," Grushko told reporters today, as reported by Sputnik.
Grushko indicated that Kiev is trying to exploit the issue of non-compliance with the Minsk agreements to keep the European Union on the position of sanctions against Russia, stressing that the Ukrainian issue can only be resolved through the implementation of the Minsk package of measures.
"Everyone understands that a credible political solution can only be found at the negotiating table, and we will adhere to this calm and firm position, proceeding from the fact that if our partners are really interested in removing this conflict from the agenda, not only about Ukraine itself, but also about general European security in Black Sea Region.
He pointed out that under the pretext of the existing tension, NATO countries are trying to penetrate the region, stressing that there is only one way to solve it, which is to move forward with the implementation of the Minsk package of measures.
He stressed that the role of the United States should be first and foremost to compel Kiev to fully implement the Minsk agreements.
