Awareness activities, theatrical performances, treatments and free medicines within the activities of the branch of the Syrian Family Planning Association in Daraa as part of the 16 days campaign against gender-based violence.
The campaign, according to the head of the association’s branch, lawyer Nujoud Khalil, includes awareness seminars and activities to combat violence against women, especially in the areas of reducing harmful practices such as early and forced marriage and child marriage, noting that the association’s branch works to raise the level of leadership among women and to promote a culture of dialogue in the family institution. Supporting it in the field of contributing to decision-making.
Coordinator of the association’s branch, Nour Barmo, said that the branch seeks to find solutions to reduce violence against women through awareness-raising activities and introducing women to the laws that regulate their relationship with others, stressing that the campaign coincides with free treatments and medicines and the distribution of brochures from workers in fixed and mobile clinics, mobile teams and the Activities Support Center .
Psychological support officials, Hazar Ahmed, Amani Al-Jahmani, and Nada Al-Asfar, addressed the negative effects of violence on women, whether at home or at work, such as anxiety, tension, fear or instability.
It is noteworthy that the 16 Days Campaign is a global campaign launched by the United Nations in 1991 with the aim of combating all forms of violence against women and girls, and it runs from November 25 to December 10.
