Rochelle Walinsky, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told ABC News that infections of the Omicron strain have been recorded in 15 US states so far, adding, "We are closely monitoring cases and we hear every day about more suspected cases, so it is likely that they will occur." An increase in the number of cases.

Among the states with cases recorded are California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

Walinsky confirmed that the delta mutant is responsible for most cases of infection in the United States and said, "Our problem now in the United States is the delta mutant," noting that "out of 90 to 100,000 cases of infection daily, 99.9% of them are infected with the delta mutant."
