Today, the Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida began selling olive saplings to farmers to secure their needs for the current season, at an encouraging price of 1,500 liras per plant.
The head of the plant production department in the directorate, Eng. Akram Saray El-Din, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the ready-to-sell plants amount to 29,000 plants of the Qaisi and Sourani varieties. At a lower price than approved for sale in private nurseries.
And Eng. Saray El-Din indicated that sales are made according to the family card, in order to grant sensory detection documents from the indicative units for cultivating home gardens or grafting orchards, with a maximum of 25 implants per farmer.
The total area planted with olive trees in As-Suwayda Governorate is 9,945 hectares, comprising 1,673 million trees, of which the fruit is 1.412 million trees.
