"It was a great miracle here," said the owner of the dog Faye, who was found exhausted and shivering on Thursday, in a puddle of water at the bottom of a shaft at a construction site in Rosh Pina.

Faye, a three-year-old mixed dog, went for a walk with her owner, Merom and Anand, in the upper part of the Rosh Pina colony three days ago.

At one point she moved away from them, but unusually, did not return to them nor did she return to her home later.

The two went out to look for her, but unfortunately she was not found.

Following this, they posted a message on the colony's Facebook page and hung ads throughout the community.

"When it had been a long time it started to worry us and we thought of contacting the police," the dog owners said.

According to them, this is a beautiful dog and the fear arose that she might have been stolen.

Among those looking for Faye was also Ben Luzon, a Rosh Pina resident and local council maintenance worker.

"This morning I received a call that construction workers working on building a museum at the Rosh Pina restoration site heard the sounds of a dog crying," Luzon said. "I had a feeling it was Faye and I hurried there."

Using a ladder he descended into a dark shaft about three feet deep, and at the bottom he saw the bitch standing in a puddle of water about forty inches high and leaning with her body against the concrete wall.

Luzon pulled her out of the pit and said that when he found her she was "really exhausted and weak".

The happy Anand and Merom gathered Faye into their arms.

"She was so weak she didn't even bark," they said, thanking everyone who assisted in the search, the construction workers who were alert and Luzon who rescued Faye from the pit.

Due to the fall from a height of three meters, and the fact that she was in a puddle of water in cold weather and without food, Faye was taken for tests by a veterinarian, hoping that she would return to strength soon.
