With the participation of 50 children, the National Day to encourage reading activity, organized by the Regional Center for Early Childhood Development, started today, as part of the project to encourage reading in early childhood in its ninth session.
The 5-day event in the Directorate of Aleppo Culture includes 350 children in succession, and includes various activities, including drawing on paper, coloring, and decorating children's faces, in addition to the “I am the author” activity and puppet theater.
In a statement to SANA's reporter, Ibrahim Masso, director of Aleppo Education, explained that the project aims to educate children about the importance of reading, develop their intellectual and linguistic taste, and develop their imagination.
Samah Al-Salti, head of the Research and Studies Department at the Regional Center for Early Childhood Development, indicated that the project targets the early age groups of children from 3 to 8 years old, from different kindergartens, beacons of the Syrian Trust for Development, NGOs and the local community.
Al-Salti indicated that stories are distributed to children at the end of each day by the center's team to encourage them to read paper.
Jaber Sajour, Director of Aleppo Culture, pointed out the importance of encouraging children to read in order to provide them with new vocabulary and urging them to learn more scientific knowledge and concepts.
Participant Malak Al-Issa from the Kindergarten Department of the Regional Center for Early Childhood Development pointed out that the implemented activities contribute to encouraging children to read and compose stories, promoting the level of scientific thinking and developing their imagination.
A number of children expressed their happiness to participate in the activities that encourage them to read, visit the school library and refine their artistic talents.
