To the chagrin of any dog owner, he or she knows this moment - our pet is starting to feel unwell and we find ourselves quite at a loss. Obviously, it is impossible to ask our dogs what is bothering them and the guesswork immediately begins and after that, the urgent phone call to the vet.

One of the diseases most frustrating dogs and their owners have to deal with it is of pens, so to understand what exactly, how are kept from her and myths is important to refute her, we used the veterinarian Dr. Ofer comet, answering some important questions.

First, what is pertussis pens?

Whooping cough Corrosion is an inflammation of the upper respiratory tract and is caused by a variety of viruses and bacteria. The bacterium is the most common and also more violent cause. Influenza of humans.

How and where are coronary heart disease infected? Only in corns?

Definately not.

Just like with the flu, when one sick child comes to a closed classroom, coughs and sneezes and infects everyone, that way dogs would tend to be infected in pens, where the disease would quickly jump from cage to cage.

That's why she got that nickname, but you can stick to it anywhere.

Once upon a time, the main waves really were after the holidays (Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot) and after Pesach, when a lot of people would travel abroad and leave the dogs in kennels, and then one unvaccinated and sick dog would be enough to infect all the others. People probably spend more time in dog gardens.

Dogs are infected with pertussis in exhibitions, training classes, dog-sitters, clinics, hairdressers and even walking down the street. They can also be infected by food plates or games they put in their mouths. Have grown significantly so it is important to emphasize this disease, which attacks throughout the year.

What are the symptoms of rabies?

A dry and terrible cough is formed in the dog. He has difficulty breathing and sounds very bad to us. He does not lose appetite, but his feeling on the face and that of the owner - accordingly. I keep getting calls in the middle of the night that the dog has swallowed something and cannot breathe and it is immediately clear to me that this is not the case, but he is infected with whooping cough.

Usually, a rabies cough lasts 4-5 days and once you start giving your dog antibiotics, it goes down slowly, but it can also develop into pneumonia or life-threatening diseases. Another problem is that most of the coughing occurs at night, so it is really a matter of a few days without sleep, for the dog and the owner.

Just like with the flu, most patients who show symptoms are at a mild level and overcome it relatively quickly, but sometimes there are cases that become more problematic, especially in puppies or older dogs. In any case, the recommendation is to give the dogs the vaccine.

How long does the disease still be contagious after the cough has disappeared?

The dog can continue to secrete the disease for a very long time, even over half a year, even after he no longer coughs.

Because such prolonged isolation of a dog, so as not to infect others, is unrealistic or feasible, the disease continues to spread.

Does the hexagonal vaccine we know also help against rabies?

The hexagonal vaccine does not cover pertussis.

In the pertussis vaccine there is the bacterial factor that does not exist in the hexagon and as mentioned, it is the main and violent factor.

The vaccine is also given as a spray into the dog's nose, in order to provide good local protection from where the viruses and bacteria enter his body - the trachea.

An ovarian dog is not protected from the disease.

So if your dog also suddenly coughs heavily, know that it is very possible that he has contracted pertussis (yes, even if he has not been in the kennel recently).

In this case, get him to the vet as soon as possible and in any case, remember - it is better to vaccinate in advance and provide him with the protections he needs.

For your benefit and of course, for his benefit.
