Abstract.
Day and night, they try to cross the Channel at the risk of their lives.
Since the start of the year, at least 25,000 migrants have managed to reach England from France aboard small boats that are often in poor condition.
This is three times more than the previous year, according to the British authorities.
A drama recently recalled the dangers of these clandestine voyages: at the end of November, 27 people including a pregnant woman and a child, died after their boat capsized.
“It could have been me,” Jack explained in the Parisian.
This 21-year-old Sudanese man managed to reach the English coast just days before this sinking.
Our reporter Ariane Riou was able to meet him before and after his dangerous crossing.
She tells Jack's story in Source Code.
