In a situation assessment convened tonight (Monday) by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, they discussed the isolation restrictions and tests for returnees from abroad as approved by the Corona Cabinet in line with the spread of variant Omicron.

Nowadays, everyone who has returned from abroad has to go into isolation.

Vaccines returning from orange, yellow and green countries are required in at least two days of isolation, until a negative test result is obtained.

Unvaccinated returnees from any country must be isolated for two weeks.

It appears that Thursday and new restrictions will be approved: vaccinated returnees from yellow and orange states will be required to undergo only 24-hour home isolation subject to a negative PCR test, and returnees from red states will be required to enter a week of home isolation subject to two negative PCR tests.

Unvaccinated returnees from yellow and orange states will go into one-week isolation subject to two negative PCR tests.

Returns from a red state will be required for a week of isolation at the Corona Hotel, at the expense of the isolator, subject to a negative PCR test.

The Ministry of Health would like to receive more data on the effectiveness of the vaccine against the South African variant, mainly from the Virus Laboratory in Israel.

There is a possibility that there will be no clear results and then they will seek to extend the validity of the restrictions.

Apparently even if they continue to be only a few verified, they will leave the relief to the vaccinated as early as next week.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health updated that 21 verified variants of Omicron have been identified in Israel so far - a jump of ten from yesterday.

All of those verified were from abroad or were in contact with returnees from abroad, and 13 of them were vaccinated.
