To celebrate the International Day of the Handicapped, social welfare institutes and some civil associations concerned with the disabled in Homs governorate held an art exhibition and lyrical and dance performances with the participation of children within the framework of the annual ceremony for people with disabilities in the lobby of the Culture Palace in the governorate.

The exhibition witnessed hundreds of handmade art pieces produced by children with disabilities, including educational tools in which children used paper, cardboard and threads of all kinds, in addition to making some types of pastries from children. Social care reflects the concern for educationally and educationally disabled children through all forms of psychological and moral support.

In a statement to reporters, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad Seif El-Din indicated the ministry's keenness to provide more support to Homs, noting the necessity of supporting the disabled segment and directing the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor to associations in the governorate to achieve a fair distribution of humanitarian aid, stressing the importance of partnership between government and civil efforts to achieve social advancement.

Engineer Bassam Parsik, Governor of Homs, pointed to the need to take care of people with disabilities and provide them with all support and assistance, praising the humanitarian initiatives in Homs, including the People of Good Initiative.

During his tour of the Social Welfare Institute for the Disabled in Shin, Minister Seif El-Din was briefed on the implementation of the educational process and the moral support provided to children with disabilities.

The director of the institute, Huda Badr, indicated that there are currently 27 children with disabilities in the center, which was established in 2013 and serves four categories of disability, including mentality, deafness, cerebral palsy and the blind, so that self-services are provided, social adaptation and integration with society is enhanced, and academic education is provided within the National Disability Program.

A number of the institute's children, in the presence of their families, presented an artistic dance performance, while an exhibition of children's products and educational supervisors was opened, including handicrafts, various drawings, some educational aids and children's games.

During the visit of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor to the Juvenile and Delinquent Observation Center in Homs, coordination was made with the Public Prosecutor to expedite the treatment of the conditions of juvenile delinquents and their release in accordance with the regulations and laws.

The director of the center, Samer Ibrahim, pointed out that there are currently about 58 juveniles in the center, indicating that various educational, family, health and psychological support services are provided to detained juveniles from 11 to 17 years old, most of whom committed misdemeanors as a result of family disintegration.

The Minister also toured the Masarati Youth Training Center in Al-Waer neighborhood.

The center's official, Fatima Mashlab, pointed out that the infrastructure of the center has been completed, and it is expected to start training young people, both professionally and educationally, early next year, to provide them with professions and trades that support them with a livelihood.

The ceremony was attended and accompanied by the Minister during the tour, the Governor of Homs, Secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party Branch Omar Houriya, directors of offices of international organizations and official, economic and civil events.
