Under the continuing impact of the epidemic, restaurant business hours have been shortened, and the eating patterns of citizens have gradually changed. Many people will choose online platforms to order takeaways.

CLP has cooperated with the catering industry to launch catering equipment that meets the needs of the public. Among them, the solar-powered take-out courier will be "landed" in the second quarter of next year. Hundreds of takeaways and other daily necessities can be delivered to your door.

Earlier, CLP held a three-day "CLP Catering Business Day" with the theme of "Smart Business Winning". Among them, it cooperated with Locker Food to design a take-out express car powered by solar energy.

The whole car is equipped with a total of 24 solar panels to generate electricity, which can support more than ten hours of use throughout the day; the solar panels store electricity and can continue to provide cold and heat preservation and ultraviolet sterilization functions for the food in the car even after parking.

After customers place an order on the restaurant’s online platform, the take-out courier truck will receive the order in the area and collect the take-out at each restaurant, and deliver it to each housing estate in one go.

The car body has a very large capacity, which can carry more than 500 items at a time. In addition to delivering takeaways, there is also a mobile "mini convenience store" on the car. It also provides heat and cold storage functions. After taking the meal, customers can directly add other snacks, Drinks, or other household goods, such as canned food, rice, etc.

Lin Peixin, Chief Executive Officer of Locker Food, demonstrated that after customers order a meal through the mobile app, they scan the barcode in the delivery car to open the smart cabinet to pick up the meal.

Landing in Tseung Kwan O, Discovery Bay and other areas in the second quarter of next year

Lin Peixin, Chief Executive Officer of Locker Food, introduced that there is only one driver in the take-out express car, and AI smart technology is installed in the car to monitor the customer's pick-up and shopping process. The concept refers to the Japanese unmanned store.

Lin Peixin plans to launch 4 to 5 express delivery vehicles in the first phase of next year, which will be piloted in Tseung Kwan O, Discovery Bay and remote New Territories, where restaurants have fewer choices or are far from shopping locations.

He went on to say that the solar-powered take-out courier can be more convenient and collect a large number of orders in a "consolidated" way, and the driver keeps driving in the area in a circular line.

In the future, we will cooperate with food trucks to modify the interior design of the car to make it more convenient for customers in various regions.

Luo Guoguo, deputy director of customer service at China Light and Power Enterprise, said that CLP has always been an energy partner in the catering industry in Hong Kong, assisting Locker Food to be responsible for solar energy suppliers, and linking up with other restaurants to participate in takeaway car services.

Luo Xuxu pointed out that during the design process, CLP also suggested how to store electricity during the period of "stopping the key" to reduce carbon emissions.
