Covid-19: what the government could announce after the Health Defense Council

2021-12-06T08:10:36.517Z

A new Health Defense Council is being held this Monday morning. Several measures are under study.

Emmanuel Macron promised to provide answers with "

pragmatism, proportion and philosophy

", in the face of an epidemic situation which has continued to deteriorate in recent weeks.

A new Health Defense Council is therefore being held this Monday morning, to examine the measures to be taken to limit the fifth wave of Covid-19 which has struck the territory for several days.

Vaccination of children and closure of schools

While the incidence rate is exploding in children, vaccination of 5-11 year olds should be on the agenda of this Defense Council.

"

The vaccinations could start at the beginning of January on a voluntary basis

," said Gabriel Attal.

"

The decision was not formally taken but there is no reason not to do it

", explained Olivier Véran Friday at the microphone of RTL.

The government is awaiting the opinion of the High Authority of Health, which currently recommends vaccination for 360,000 children "

who are at risk of developing a serious form of the disease

".

To curb contamination, another option is on the table: bring forward the school holidays.

Schools could close Wednesday, December 15 instead of Friday 17, leaving 10 days before Christmas to judge a contamination of a child, as the RTL advance on Monday.

This closure, if validated, could be announced during the week.

France would be inspired by Belgium which brought the holidays forward by a week.

Teleworking and wearing a mask

Since September, the protocol no longer provides for a minimum number of days for teleworking.

It provides that "

employers shall set, within the framework of local social dialogue, the methods of recourse

" to teleworking.

The Minister of Labor Élisabeth Borne nevertheless invited, on November 25, employers "

to facilitate its deployment, taking into account the issues of work organization, the risks associated with the isolation of employees, or the difficulty of respecting barrier gestures

”.

The protocol should not change, but companies will be encouraged to use telework more extensively.

“The mask has been gradually removed, through wear and tear or false real insurance.

It must be put back,

”said Olivier Véran on November 25

.

The mask is again compulsory in theaters, certain high-traffic venues and even certain cities.

His return to the streets cannot be ruled out.

No return of gauges

The government should also insist on the need to respect barrier gestures, several studies having noted a decline in the vigilance of the French.

The government spokesman, however, ruled out the return of the gauges, ensuring that the objective is "

to avoid having to take general measures that concern everyone

".

Neither containment nor curfew would be under consideration.

The government would bet on vaccination, while 10 million French people have already received their booster dose.

For the President of the Republic, the solution to end the crisis is "to

vaccinate, to vaccinate, to vaccinate

", he insists.
