Do not fall into the trap: Tehran prays that the temporary will become permanent | Israel today

2021-12-06T17:52:34.631Z

To create a false impression of progress towards a diplomatic solution with Iran, the US is ready for an agreement that requires it to give a lot and receive little • Anyone who thinks such an agreement will help gain time is wrong: Israel is approaching the moment of truth against the nuclear, and may have to maintain

Prime Minister Bennett and President Herzog addressed the Iranian threat following the recent failed round in Vienna.

They called on the United States and the world not to allow Iran to continue to dictate the tone and dragging its feet in the negotiations, while continuing to develop their capabilities and move closer to the status of a nuclear-nuclear state.

As Herzog noted, Israel would be happy to see a good and comprehensive agreement that would permanently disable Iran's ability to reach a nuclear program - but that is not really what happened in Vienna, nor what will happen next.

The new president of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi

Biden and Mali's approach, which is joined by the squeaking of European teeth, is not to punish the Iranians for the repeated violations of the NPT Treaty, for not cooperating with IAEA investigations and for not complying with any agreement they signed, including the JCPOA. B. want to maintain at all costs a fictitious picture of progress towards a diplomatic solution, albeit a temporary one, and it is likely to be very poor.

The American ambition is to reach an agreement known as "Less for Less - Less for Less", or a different agreement, "Different for different".

It is basically a "More for less" agreement, "much more for much less": lifting the sanctions, even if partial, will give Iran billions of dollars, allow it to rehabilitate its economy and support terrorism - and send a message to markets that doing business with Iran is allowed and worthwhile.

The stable is waiting for the horses

Just as I predicted in an article about a week ago, Iran came to the negotiating table with maximalist and absurd demands.

Nothing was said about changing their behavior in the nucleus and in the region.

This is not surprising to anyone familiar with Iranian doctrine, which is based on the following assumptions: US is weak and will not attack; Israel has no ability to attack (and inaccurate and irresponsible publications in Israel, help them think they are right); Iranian economy can withstand pressure; , There is no credible military and economic threat to the regime, the lives of the leaders and their personal property.

In Israel, articles and interviews have been published by irresponsible parties, some of whom hold very senior positions in the past, who recommend accepting the fact that Iran will become a threshold-nuclear state and prepare for it - because it is inevitable.

This is a serious mistake that must not be dragged into and a violation of state security.

On the other hand, at this stage it seems that decision-makers in Israel are not falling into the trap.

Anyone who offers to encourage or accept a partial agreement, does not face that this is the worst solution of all.

This is not a temporary agreement, but an agreement that will become permanent.

Anyone who thinks that in this way we will gain time and be better prepared to handle the program in a few years, is wrong and misleading.

A "more for less" agreement, which the Americans aspire to, will certainly allow Iran to quickly reach the area of immunity and become a threshold-nuclear state, that is, a country that has all the capabilities to build a bomb according to its sole decision - without any factor stopping it. to do this.

Israel needs to put pressure on the United States and the powers to return to maximum economic pressure, and to make sure that there is a credible military threat on the table.

We are approaching the moments of truth in the face of the Iranian nuclear program, and Israel may need to realize the promise of its leaders to maintain the security of the country and its citizens on our own.

It would be a hard mistake to play on time to build stables for horses, which will not be there when the stables are ready.
