Two suggestions for improvement relating to public transport in Eching were recently a topic in the local council.

An ÖDPler has kneeled in for it.

Eching

- Markus Hiereth, board member of the ÖDP Neufahrn-Eching, has taken on a lot to optimize the local bus schedule.

This also includes a cost estimate for the district and municipality, more precisely the Zweckverband Versorgungs- und Verkehrsbetriebe Eching / Neufahrn.

The new express bus runs from Garching to Freising

The latter operates the regional bus route 690 between Eching, Dietersheim, Neufahrn and the underground in Garching.

Line 695, in turn, is carried by the District Office.

The cycles of both bus lines were recently condensed in the district's local transport plan and the X 660 express bus from Garching to Freising via Dietersheim was also introduced.

The alliance of ÖDP, Echinger Mitte and BfE has now submitted Hiereth's suggestions for improvement with regard to local public transport in two proposals to the municipal council.

One covers the rush hour including school transport, the other the Sunday and off-peak hours.

Direct bus services between Eching, Dietersheim and Garching-Forschungszentrum (U) are to be introduced every hour, as is an hourly connection from Deutenhausen and Ottenburg to the Echingen S-Bahn station.

Around 175,000 euros a year would go to the community

In order to cover the costs of this “local bus”, it is suggested that, analogous to the regulation for Neufahrner line 694, the district is responsible for rush hour journeys. In addition to the application for operation from Monday to Saturday, it is stated that Eching's councils express their willingness to establish an offer on line 695 in low-traffic times and the communities that benefit from it then bear the costs accordingly. As an assignment to the administration, it is proposed to contact the other municipalities along the route, whose ideas are queried and incorporated into the concept. After the green light from the Echinger Council, the entire package is to be implemented by the district as the responsible authority at the earliest possible point in time. Under the premise that the district will share the costs, the municipality would account for around 175,000 euros a year.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

2. Mayor Stefanie Malenke (SPD) expressly welcomed the commitment made by Hiereth and Co., with which they are now bringing “momentum to this topic” and in particular focusing on the poorly connected northern parts of the community.

"The co-financing is a good solution," said Bernhard Wallner (CSU) in the praise.

And Christoph Gürtner also made it known for the Free Voters that “we are positive about this”.

After an intensive debate, the council decided unanimously to commission the Zweckverband to present the technical possibilities and conditions for the optimization of local public transport to the Freising District Office.
