The plastic artist, Edward Shahda, crowned the end of 2021 by displaying the product of his work in a year through his solo exhibition, which included 9 large murals, consisting of several parts in most of them.

And about the exhibition hosted by George Kamel Gallery, it carried a new experience for the artist, who witnessed the diversity of the topics of his works away from a single theme, with the privacy of each work and his preservation at the same time on the way of thinking and plastic formulation in blending engineering spaces and rich and varied artistic symbols in their intellectual meanings and relying on details from life and myths Ancient and religious icons.

Concerning the exhibition, the artist Shahda said in a statement to SANA, “Drama is essential in my painting. Without it, the painting becomes decorative. I paint my various daily observations on the street, including people, places, and life details. I am affected by what I read as well. Everything that occurs in thought and sight can be formed on the surface of the painting.”

On the extent of his dependence on the culture of the viewer in understanding and deconstructing his plastic symbols, Shahda explained that he presents his artistic and plastic ideas and visions to leave the recipient the freedom to understand these works, considering that the culture of viewing requires long and cumulative work from everyone to advance the culture towards a broader horizon.

For his part, artist and plastic critic Ghazi Aana pointed out that the artist Shahd was distinguished by his good academic foundation since his studies at the College of Fine Arts and had a great ability to draw realistic portraiture to continue his artistic experience through dozens of individual and group exhibitions, proposing a special style characterized by shorthand in form and expressiveness in drawing characters.

Ana emphasized that the artist is a witness who is distinguished by being experienced and prolific and relies on symbolism in his paintings, which bear many projections to leave each viewer the freedom to understand them in his own way. Abstraction and surrealism to satisfy itself and present a rich palette of formulations.

The plastic artist, Edward Shahda, was born in Damascus in 1952. He studied at the Walid Al-Ahdab Center for Fine Arts in Hama and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus. He also studied at the studio of Anatoly Kalankov in Russia. He is a member of the Syrian Plastic Artists Union and is dedicated to artwork and his works are acquired by the Ministry of Culture and other institutions. official.
