The cross-examination of state witness Nir Hefetz in the 4000 case continues this morning (Monday) in the Jerusalem District Court.

Hefetz is a former media adviser to Benjamin Netanyahu, who is accused of accepting bribes while he was prime minister.

The hearing began behind closed doors, in light of Hefetz's request that questions concerning the figure close to him, and in respect of which a restraining order was issued, be heard behind closed doors.

Later in the hearing, Hefetz testified that during his days of detention he believed that the investigation in the 4000 case was not serious.

"My confidence that this was a real and serious investigation without extraneous considerations was close to zero. I thought it was more of a persecution than an investigation," the state witness said.

"The draconian means exerted on me and the unimaginable amount of investigators and resources reinforced in me my utter distrust of the investigation and the authorities who interrogated me, especially 433."

Hefetz also spoke about the pressures that the investigators put on him to cooperate with them and replace a lawyer.

During the discussion, excerpts from the investigation were screened, in which, among other things, the researcher says to the object, "Your situation is dismal, it is your life and that of those around you, it can only be the beginning, you need to think about what can be done to prevent deterioration."

"It was the gentle call out of hundreds of calls in which they press me to answer questions, give a detailed version and replace the line. Shiron Kostelitz told me not to move from it - read a paragraph every morning saying Right".
