The basic principles of writing for children in a practical way that combines scientific information and practical application in writing training is the title of the “Creative Writing for Early Childhood” workshop hosted by the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh.
The workshop, organized by the Directorate of Child Culture under the supervision of the writer Areej Bawadakji, editor-in-chief of Shama magazine, aims to empower a group of young people, whether they are writers or amateurs, to be able to write for children professionally.
During the workshop, writer Budaqji talked about literature as a psychological and social support for the child and the elements that must be present in the story directed to him and the need for the writer to know the psychological needs of children and to possess the basics of writing, providing practical exercises in editing early childhood stories.
The plastic artist, Lina Naddaf, participated in the workshop, reviewing her experience in drawing for early childhood, and the writer Mays Al-Ani, who won the third place in the Syrian General Book Organization's competition.
She pointed out the most important observations that contributed to the development of her experience in the field of writing for children, starting with the magazines Shama and Osama.
It is scheduled to present the outstanding works of the workshop participants within the celebration of the National Day to encourage reading and to print them within the publications of the Ministry of Culture in the Shama magazine, which is directed to children at the age of seven years.
