Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed that there is no such thing as a step for step or an interim agreement in the Vienna talks on the nuclear deal, which will resume at the end of this week.
Khatibzadeh said in a press conference today that "his country's delegation will go to Vienna determined to reach a good agreement, and we hope that the other party will come with the same resolve," stressing that Tehran is not in a hurry and does not allow anyone to manipulate its time and effort.
Khatibzadeh made it clear that in the previous round, his country presented drafts based on the previous six rounds and was negotiating on the basis of drafts for lifting sanctions and how to stop Iran's compensatory measures, and there is no such thing as a step-by-step agreement or temporary plans.
Khatibzadeh added, "We know what we want in Vienna and all our demands are within the framework of the nuclear agreement. They did not object to our demands. They only said that they should be studied. We do not accept anything less than the nuclear agreement, and we do not pledge anything beyond it."
The Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for International Affairs and chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani reiterated yesterday the need to cancel the unjust US embargo on the Iranian people in order to revive the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the P5+1 group in 2015.
