(CNN Spanish) -

Julio Borges, Presidential Commissioner for International Relations of the so-called Interim Government led by Juan Guaidó in Venezuela, announced this Sunday that he will make his position available to the National Assembly made up of opposition representatives.

Through a press release, Borges states that Guaidó's interim government "has been deformed" and that, in fact, this vision of government must disappear.

He also considers that "the case of Venezuela has been put on the fridge" and that the Guaidó executive has become bureaucratized, for which he has decided to abandon it.

  • Maduro created the figure of Alex Saab's "diplomat" to give him immunity, says Guaidó's ambassador to the US.

The also deputy to the National Assembly, elected in 2015, insists that although Guaidó says he has the support of the United States, the real problem lies within Venezuela and that is where work must be done.

Borges urges Guaidó to become a factor to rebuild the unit and not to remain in office without taking any action.

According to the note, Borges will present to the National Assembly a reform package that includes the reconstruction of the Interim Government, a change in the management of assets and reforms to the figure of the Interim Presidency.

Borges, leader of Primero Justicia, held the position of Presidential Commissioner for International Relations of the so-called Interim Government for three years.

  • EU observers have to leave Venezuela earlier than expected because they did not extend their visa, according to a source from the mission

So far Juan Guaidó has not reacted to Borges' statements.

The Venezuelan opposition, unaware of the parliamentary elections held in December 2020, decided to extend the term of the parliament elected in 2015 and that, according to the constitution, ended on January 5, 2021. There is expectation of what may happen to this parliament as of January 5, 2022, the date on which, according to the Magna Carta, the new parliamentary term begins.

At the same time, there is a ruling majority parliament that was elected on December 6, 2020 in elections in which the opposition did not participate.
